Title: Seatbelt warning?
Post by: CraigDavieBeattie on 15 August 2011, 21:06
Hey all, right this has happened twice now.. after starting car up and belted up sometimes the belt warning noise and light flashes up still....? is this a problem or is there a procedure on putting seat belts on haha? I even take it out and re do it but still flashes for 30 secs atleast then finally goes off...

Cheers.

Tis strange  :undecided:

You might have a faulty sensor?  Get someone with VAGCOM to investigate and or code out the warning :afro:

They all have a warning for both driver and passenger seats. You can code it out, although I would not recommend this because it could invalidate your insurance.

IIRC AlanD had this problem and it turned out to be a faulty sensor in either the seat or the seatbelt assembly.

Right guys... found the problem!! Turns out me not knowing that the new modern technology from the mk5 actually has sensors inside the front two seats! not sure about back.. so in the end it was me having my work bag on my passenger seat on route to work was making the warning go off. Waste of a post now but hey.. i wasnt to know this lol. Didnt get this in my old mk4 haha. Cheers anyway!

What was the seatbelt alarm issue you had then Alan? Or am I confusing you with someone else again? It was someone with a black GTI anyway

I didn't have any issues with mine. Sometimes in the morning I stick my work bag on the passenger seat as it's not a long drive and seeing as my bag weighs approximately 7 tones I got it coded out. All issues I can remember have been because someone had something on the passenger seat, like this thread :D
