Got my oil level low light on tonight when I got in my car after work. Restarted the car and it was clear. Anyways, check my oil level and it was a bit low so think I better top it up and see how goes. So can anyone tell me what oil the GTI uses?

Cheers guys, will pick up some 5 - 30w today then.
Never topped it up mate, check it on the dip stick and it was showing very near the low level mark on the gauge. Will top up today :-)

Easy - use any oil that states "VW 504.00/507.00 approved" on the back of the bottle.
I.e. any oil from this list - http://www.my-gti.com/2540/ - and pick the cheapest.

If my oil pressure light had come on mine would be going nowere until i found some oil or fixed the issue.

Checked my level and although it was on the low line on the dip stick it was still within the parameters hence the reason my light never appeared again. I was confident the was a sufficient amount of oil in the car for it not to run dry, althought, if no oil appeared on the dip stick and the light appeared permantly the car would not be moving an inch.
