Title: Selling clothes on ebay tips :)
Post by: jnufcuk on 15 August 2011, 19:38
Hi all got a few clothes to sell on ebay either being too small or barely worn.

Got a few lyle and scott jumper and tops and some cartoon character tops (street fighter, turtles etc) that have never really been worn?

Whats the best way to go about selling them, not expecting alot just anything will do lol

Thanks

We've sold a few things including my old suit that no longer fitted, a couple of the wife's dresses, tops and jackets (she did know about it  ) and they did sell.
But be prepared to get practically nothing for the clothes unless it's a good brand name. Occassionally clothes sell well, but that seems to be womens stuff more than mens and only when it's something special. Although we had one expensive dress that didn't sell, even though it was a top name, only worn once and had good photos and listing.

You win some, you lose some.

Used female attire tends to sell the best.

haha family guy ftw

ye was hoping i could get a lil bit for the lyle and scott bits seeing how theyre like £80+ new lol.

Is there an easier way of listing them apart from 1 by 1 seeing how ill have like 10-15items?

Pictures with items being worn some people find useful to actually see what they look like on.

And make sure your end time is never at a stupid time when people won't be in front of a computer. Most bidding happens in the last hour. Evenings & weekends (but still not lunchtimes etc).

Do not skimp on the postage. I think the most you can set it as is £4, set it as that other wise you may lose out.

Thursday and Sunday night are the best end times for sales as these are the highest traffic times.

We sold some of the her in doors stuff a few weeks ago and it was more trouble than it was worth. Even named stuff went for 99p + once egay and paypal have taken there cut you may aswell used them to wipe your arse on.

make sure the titles are sensible and spelling is correct, 99 pence start to attrack bargain hunters and international post. a mate has just sold a load of genuine designer gear and got decent money. some of the stuff that went abroad sold for more than cost price

If you can, display them on a mannequin (beg borrow or steal one!) as they'll look way better than on a hanger or just laid out. Iron them too!

It's also a good idea to mention they're from a smoke-free home if you're a non-smoker and pet-free if you've got no pets. Not knowing about smoke and pets can put people off and they won't be bothered to ask.

HTH

And be prepared for dick head buyers!  I have done hundreds of stuff on eBay and even today I have been amazed. An item I am selling has just gone past it's reserve price and the bloke who made the bid has just mailed me asking to end the item early for him as it's gone past the reserve! Peni5.

99% of people are great though
