Title: Rear Wiper Problem...
Post by: X4MGS on 15 August 2011, 18:16
Anyone else got this problem or can someone offer a possible solution.... Plz...

Rear wiper only swipes once and stops - Most of the time but not always - Really bloody annoying..

Had a play with it yesterday and tried a new(ish) No72 relay.. still does the same...

Could it be a fault with the motor unit? But I thought it was controlled by the relay  :undecided:

Hello bud.
Open the boot and look at the top left where there is a rubber boot.  Pull that out and see if the wires are broke there.
They seem to chaff on the bodywork i think, when you open and close the boot over time.  If you do have to repair them it can be a pain in the butt.
Best to remove the headlining and you can get to them easy then.

Did have a fiddle with the wires as I had that problem before but when that happened the whole unit didn't work at all...

Might have another look tomorrow just to make sure...

What is should do... a combined wipe - flat and back to the parked position in 1 sweep....

Mine was very slow - stripped it out & freed off the spindle, now it works fine
Just a thought

I'll check those too, but I doubt its a wire as it actually works...

Had the same. It parked different place every time.
Thought the wires were ok utill i pulled one and found some black tape on an end of a wire.

Broken wire syndrome, wiper could well still park! also check that No plate lamps are still working. Pull the rubber sheathing back, and have a proper look, and also give the wires a tug, just incase the wire may have broken inside its own plastic coating...
If you find broken wires, don't just solder them back together, add a new 8 inch piece in, so you can tuck the wire back into the roof, and leave brand new wire, where it is most vulnerable to break again... should last another 20 years

Wires it is then.... 1st inst...

Sure I have a complete tailgate loom lying around (somewhere)... I know mine has had a new tailgate in the past and the wires had been cut (fecking lazy body shop)... Only takes 10 minutes to pull the whole loom out in 1 pc... :nerd:

My rear wiper works fine but then stays on doing single wipes every 30 seconds whys this?

Its one push for on (intermittent 1 wipe at a time), then one push for off isn't it?

But one wipe is from | back to |

All I get is | to _ Stop; then From _ to | on the next intermittent!

Ahh, the old half-cycle story. Just remove it and bung/ weld it. Unless you like going backwards up the road in the rain that is
