Title: auto adjust clutch help!!!
Post by: tsr_adi on 15 August 2011, 18:15
Well my clutch was biting quite high on my 8v mk3 gti, but not slipping. My mate told me to undo the cable from the clutch arm, and twist the rubber gator till it clicked and reset itself. I did this, and now my clutch pedal feels very springy and different, but its MUCH worse and slips like hell! Can anyone help me get it back the way it was?

Get a new clutch cable!  Dunno tbh mate, obviously as its auto adjust, I didnt think you could do anything to them to adjust it manually. Biting point is notoriously high on these anyway. I just replaced my clutch and cable, and has made no difference to the point where it bites. Only thing its done is make it a little smoother and not as hard. A new cable from GSF is less than 15 quid anyway if you cant get it sorted. Dunno if it'll help slipping though!

Sorted it, took the rubber grommet out from between the plastic part of the self adjuster and the bracket to give me more travel on the cable, now bites half way with no slipping!
