When I had my power amplifier installed sometime ago, I posted that I had lost the facility of front/rear balance but retained that of the right/left balance. Not a problem as the system is fine with respect to the front/rear balance.
Today, I had my front right mid/bass replaced as I felt it had a tonal fault. Anyway, when I start the RNS510 after it has remained dormant for 30 minutes or so and go into the balance screen, I get the front/rear and right/left facilities which stay on for about 10 seconds and then disappear. I am then left with only the right/left balance facility. Very strange.
Any ideas why this is happening?

Taking a guess here but where did they tap into to get the audio signal for your amp? If they used just the front speaker outputs, might that explain the lack of fader control?

You make an excellent point, Mac. I've made the appropriate enquiry and will get an answer tomorrow.

Problem solved today.
@Mac/Snoops: They installed an appropriate power handling resistor which brought back the full fader function. Both front and rear channels were fed into the 4 channel line output controller (LOC).
@Snoops: They used the Genesis Series 3 LOC.

I thought I should also share the results of a comparison between my system and Dynaudio.
Bass: Mine has much better, cleaner and more tuneful bass with greater extension even with without the sub-bass unit in operation.
Midrange: Much more transparent with my system. Makes a huge difference when listening to classical music, especially choral works.
Treble: So much smoother and more extended with my system. Silk dome tweeters rock!
Overall: a significant and worthwhile improvement but as expected not as good value for money.
I am truly delighted with the results.

You can't beat specialist audio tuned to your satisfaction - glad it was a simple fix.

Aplogies if you've mentioned it anywhere Asker, but I'm intrigued by what hi-fi you use at home? You seem to take audio admirably seriously!

Dynaudio and Morel were linked and the designs are very similar still because of it. Thats why they have a similar sound.
The Passat has 3 ways front including 8" in the doors so its better than the golf/scirocco system.
Have a listen to the Dynaudio system option in a Volvo (A much much better system than VWs option)

They wanted to install a 3 way system but I decided against it as it would have required a cut-out in the door card.
There were so many tasty cars there today. 3 Rolls Royces, 2 Ferrari 458, 3 Porsche 911s, 2 Caymens, 1 Merc Brabus G Wagon, 1 Merc SLS, 1 Lambo, etc + my cheapo GTI.

3 ways are not better imo if speaker location is optomised.
