I just added the websites to the list above the cost should be on the sites.
Keep in mine there not cheap but if you ever want to sell it you normally get back most of the cost as the cables are very sort after.

I know people have had good service from marshalls, Ilexa & Gendan before. I personally have delt with both Marshalls and Gendan and had good service from both.

Rhyso and I keep talking about doing a group buy for VCDS - anyone interested?

No prices yet just to gauge interest at this point

Not anymore it appears. I bought mine from ilexa (http://www.ilexa.co.uk/acatalog/vagcom.html) for £264.16 last Christmas. VAT went up in January now they are £263.16. Genden (http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCHU.html) is £264.95. Marshall (http://www.mi-uk.com/products/accessories/vag-com-diagnostic/) is £265.99.

Thats for the HEX-USB+CAN if you only want to do small tweaks then you can use the Micro-CAN (http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/Micro-CAN.html) but I don't think you'll find many for sale in the UK though I've just seen one on eBay Genuine Rosstech VCDS/Vagcom Micro CAN usb (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Rosstech-VCDS-Vagcom-Micro-CAN-usb-/300566984201?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item45fb303609) for £159.09.

If price is the biggest concern you can buy a VAG-COM cable cheap of eBay and use the VCDS Lite (http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/download/) software but it has limited features.

I'm not sure if you would get much discount on a group buy but there is no harm in trying. I asked all the distributors if they would do a discount for the college where I worked and they all said no apart from Gendan who said they could give a 20% discount for the college.

I contacted the distributors again and said Gendan can give a 20% discount for a college can you match that? They all said no we can't and they don't know how Gendan can offer this as all cables come from Ross-Tech in the States and they all show the basic price they get them for.

I got mine last Christmas from  Marshalls as i wanted the case and manual.

Yes I thought about a case but you only get that if you have and HEX-USB Power Bundle (http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCHU_9.html), my lead fits in my laptop case. The manual (http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/download/current.html) you can download.

Not sure if we could advocate "snide" VCDS

Yes from Gendan, but the hex-can lead ONLY(not the power bundle) from Marshalls (http://www.mi-uk.com/products/accessories/vag-com-diagnostic/) cames with a plastic case and a metal bound manual the other places just send a cable.
Yes you can download the manual but its a nice thing to have in a proper printed binded copy imo for what at the time when i bought mine was £3 more than other places were charging for just the cable and i got the plastic case, manual, install instructions, the cable and also a copy of the program on CD.
