Title: Bluetooth woes
Post by: dave7268 on 12 August 2011, 19:09
Okay... I have VW premium bluetooth (RCD510) installed from new. Up until yesterday it has been working perfectly with my Blackberry Bold 9700 for 2 years.

Got in the car yesterday and phone connected up as usual then 30 seconds later the connection dropped and I get a message telling me that there is no bluetooth connection. Then the process starts again - phone connects but now there is no signal to make a call. 30 seconds later the phone disconnects again with the same message telling me that there is no bluetooth connection. This keeps repeating on and on.

The phone has not been updated in the last 2 months but is running the latest OS/updates. Done all the usual with resetting phone, deleting bluetooth connection and re-pairing with car but the problem still persists

Unfortunately I don't have any other compatible phone to test the car with but my Bold will pair with other phones.

Does this sound like it could be a problem with my phone or has the VW premium bluetooth developed a fault?

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Yep, went back to a nokia as like you i got fed up with it. Have you checked that the settings on the blackberry allow sim access in the rsap?

Yes the settings on the BB are set to allow sim access in rsap. As I said up until a few days ago it has all been working fine with the odd connection problems on initial startup which a quick reset solved. But now when it connects there is no network connection and then within 30 secs the connection drops and the phone re-initialises and this will keep repeating unless I disable the bluetooth on my phone.

Checked my phone and it pairs/operates with other bluetooth accessories without any problems. Therefore I think this can rule out a problem with the phone itself.

So could this be a problem with the RCD510 or VW Premium bluetooth kit?

Must be a way you can do a soft reset?
I know I came across on how to to do it for the RCD510 (can't seem to find it now) but not sure if there's a possibility of doing a reset for the bluetooth module...

P.S - I was in impression Blackberry can't do rsap.. at least it's good to know that it can. I'm in the midst of deciding to purchase and retrofit bluetooth module on mine (see my post last week)...

just an update on my problem....

Car went to the dealers on Friday and they found out that the bluetooth interface is not working properly. So they are going to fit a new one for me but the item is currently on backorder - at least 2 weeks they say!

Still at least the problem has been identified and is going to be fixed..... at some point...
