I am looking at a GTD golf how bad is the problems with the DPF on these cars

There isn't really any problem provided you actually drive the thing the way it's suppossed to be driven.

Vast improvement over the old PD systems  :smiley:

I did 12k miles in mine, and it never missed a beat, this was one my concerns before buying. The light never came once and I do a lot of town work in London great car loved it. :cool:

I've had no problems with my DPF lighting up and I do 70% local driving though I do give it a blast up the motorway now and then. I've read problems on other forums where their DPF light came on after 3 days from new.

It seems that it was designed to work with the CR engines, whereas the old PD170 had it as an after thought in order to meet the emmissions regs.

Spot on conclusion really, the old PD is greet for torque but neigh on useless for emmissions versus Common Rail.

Should have seen it a couple of weeks before when the turbo went  :shocked: :laugh: :laugh:

Don't see any smoke coming out of my current PD  :sad:
