Title: Is that a standard MK2 Gti 8v exhaust note

When at speed and in gear, each time I back off the throttle the back box (standard) makes a BOOOAAAAAAAR noise, sometimes with a pop.  Is this normal?  I am used to riding sports bikes so noises aren't strangers to me, just wondering if it is normal that's all.  Cheers folks!

depends if i been caning it and decelerate suddenly does pop! the boarrrr is most noticeable inb fourth when off the gas goin down a hill at 50 or something sounds phat i like!  :grin:

sounds normal to me mine pops all the time sounds good sometimes but normally only after hard acceleration and then lit off the gas completly letting is slow down in 1st or 2nd as for the other noise couldnt tell you as i have a leak on mine and it sounds like im doing 100mph when im just poodling along at 30(if you believe that youll believe anything)

My old one did that all the time, the new one not so often but still when i lift off after really caning it.

According to a friend who was following me i used to get flames with the pop!  :evil:

might have to get some one to follow me as it does it all the time :D only problem is only one mate has a car fast enough to keep up :S there lives in london anyhow.

if it pops a lot that is a sign your timing is slightly out as well. 8v have to be timed at 2500rpm with the blue temp sender disconnected.

i now got a stainless exhaust and sounds much nicer!  :grin:
