Tell them to FO!! mine is an 09 plate and I've not been told it needs an AC service. £79 sounds a bit excessive anyway, I am just about done with VW and their OTT pricing structure.

Yes I've read this before you don't use the same dealer as garboy1 do you?

Hi looking for some advice my Golf 1.6 TDI SE is coming up to 2 years old I recieved a call from the local dealer saying my car was due an air conditioning service. Now the question is I have owned 2 previous new VW's and the AC was never serviced at 2 years or any other car I have had. I was told it was £79 and if I didnt do it this would affect my warranty if for example if the AC compressor packed up. Does anyone know what the service consists of ? Re-gas, changing of seals etc. In my experience if it is blowing cold air leave it alone ?
any advice on whether to get it done ?
By the way this is not included in the £250 service package I paid for. A bit of a shock when I thought this is all I needed to pay for 3 years motoring !
It shouldn't need a service after 2 years you generally loose about 10-15% each year?

My previous Golf (Mk5) had the service at 2 years and there was a noticable improvement, much cooler. £79 is the standard price

Your right.... had the AC serviced yesterday and there is marked improvement as you say.
