Title: Hazards not working.. MOT impending!
Post by: drivebycar on 09 August 2011, 15:31
The car is still making the click click noise as if they were on. The noise is coming from the fusebox.

I'm not very good with electrics so no idea whats going on!

A clicking relay isn't always a working relay ;)

How would one proceed in identifying whether it is a switch or a relay?

Swap them one by one with a mate's car. If it works with a different swaitch or relay from another car, you've found your fault

And if you don't have a friend with a mk2?

then buy the cheapest part first or dive in with a multimeter and check the circuit step by step

Personally I'd say if the relay is clicking then the switch is OK. Is there no other relays in a mk2 fusebox with the same number on them that you can swap over? I may have a spare hazard light switch for a pre 90 spec mk2 somewhere that I could stick in an envelope for you but I'l be buggered if I know where it is
