Title: door seals
Post by: ianmaxtec on 04 August 2011, 14:19
Where can I get a complete set of replacement seals for my 86 3 door gti. I need the lot, including door window rubbers, I also need the trim that runs along the gutter from the front window to the tail gate. I have contacted VW (in Ireland) and suprise suprise, they are no longer available........any pointers would be great (not interested in used seals, unless they are MINT)

Thanks

Thanks Thom,

I have looked, but they only have a small selection (to fit my car). Apparently all these seals are available in South Africa (where a version of the car is still made). But it also seems that it is near impossible to get this stuff shipped out of the country....maybe somebody knows a way?

Baines rubber profiles in Kent ( online ) do a tubber called dx90 iirc that is a exact match for door rubbers sold by the meter

Gutter rails you will only find used...

I wanted new ones for my car after a respray, and had to make do with my sons old ones from his 1.6 driver... which were better than mine ... I tried TPS & VW classic in Germany and they have been NLA for years...

Door seals you can make do with good used ones as its very rare for them to give up the ghost...

I realise this is an old thread but just spoke to Baines on the phone and they are quoting £2.85 per metre (minimum order needs to be £10.00). Providing that the rubbers is a good match this seems a bargain compared to other online shops.

Will be ordering mine later, fingers crossed they work.
