Title: Three sensors on right side of engine.
Post by: Lee Watson on 14 April 2005, 14:12
I have a MK2 GTI 16v 1990 golf there are three sensors on side of the engine near the warm-up-regulator.

Can anyone tell me what the lowest one is for and if I unplug it when the engine is running hot whether it should do anything noticeable to the engine? Because the other two seem to make a difference.

Cheers

they are all temperature sensors and they all have the same sensor in them, so they can be swapped around if need be. 2 go into the water jacket and 1 goes into the block.

but there is no correct way as to what wire goes where, so dont worry about swapping over & gettin mixed up etc

its the colour of the wires you need to know about

Red/Yellow - this used by your dash temp gauge
Red/Green - this used by the ISV/Cold Start
Blue/White - this used by the ECU
