Anyone experienced this on a mk3, im guessing a few have. Over heating to plus 90 and the fans not coming on. any ideas?
-
Fan should kick in around 95 for single fan, and 98 for double I think it is. What car and what fan do u have?
-
1.4 8v. It overheated yesterday to the point of being towed home and wont cool.

Have you done anything to the cooling system recently? Did you have enough coolant in there? The fan not kicking in will only be a secondary issue, you will need to get to the bottom of why it was overheating in the first place really.

Bridge the terminals on the fan plug if it works then you have a sender problem, if not the fan motor has burnt out.

No its never happened before, just driving along and the temp shot up so i left it for half an hour and within less than a mile it shot up again. Theres enough water in there, aparantly it might be an airlock?

I'd also take a look at the radiator, it's been pretty warm recently and a marginal rad will cause problems suddenly like that, try removing and backflushing and make sure its in good condition, also the thermostat although it should stick open if it fails it's not unkown for them to jam shut.
