Hi all,
Moved across from uk-mkivs
I'm bored of my mk5 gti dsg and want to breathe some life into it again so fancy a remap!
I've owned 3 1.8Ts in the past and always gone Revo but it's just too expensive compared to others out there.
I've been looking at r tech due to excellent word of mouth, but most of these come from 1.8T owners, in fact I don't think I can see any mk5 gti feedback on their site.
I've done some searching online and have found only 1 decent revirew Inc. Rr graphs (aland). Can anyone else shed some light on their 2.0 tfsi remap prowess?
I see they do a stg1 and stg1 custom, is custom worth the extra coin with no mods? Well a panel filter and rev d dv!
They are also on eBay, it looks like their stg1 custom is £250 or best offer, but is advertised at £290 on their website price list?
thanks !!

give them a call mate  very very helpful and knowledgeable guys
-
I have tried a few times to call over 2 days but am not able to get through - They must be very busy!
I have also sent a few emails but get bounce backs saying that their mailbox is full. :undecided:
Shame I would like clarification on prices as I am very keen to go ahead sometime in the coming weeks.

I've been out in AlanD's car and can vouch that its very quick indeed :afro:
I've also been out in a Carbon Tuning Mk5 (other forum sponsor) and that's quick too lol
For a stage 1, just ensure your engine is in good working order (although the tuners should give the car a thorough check before remapping)
Depending on the age of your car it would be worthwhile upgrading the DV to the revised version from VW; early ones tend to split when the car is standard so a remap will finish them off very quickly. The new revised DV eliminates this problem :afro:

Hi, I have had an r-tech remap on my mk5 GTI (manaul) now for 2 months and give you pretty good idea as what to expect from the car. It is awesome! I would definately recommend the R-tech remap to anyone.
I was in a similar position to you, had the car for 3 years and although I love it I was thinking I need more power. I had already invested in a Milltek cat-back and a pipercross panel so had a good base to start from. I gave Nick a call and booker her in for a stage 1 custom map. Called down one saturday morning and Nick popped her on the rollers, gave a thorough check over the engine, took out the diverter valve and did a full diagnostics. Everything was good so she was put on the rollers, pulled 210 bhp standard, not bad for an exhaust and a filter. The map was then uploaded, took about 40 mins but I went to investigate the butty van and admire the other motors surrounding their neat little unit. Map uploaded then back on the rollers, pulling just shy of 250 bhp with 270 ft llb of torque!!I then thanked Nick and his team for there work, by the way they are a great set of lads with a good set up. Top guys!
Took her for a test drive then off home to Sheffield. First impressions are amazing, turbo spools up like a Bi*$ch! Real old school, reminded me a Scooby. Then it just keeps pulling and pulling. Motorway driving is great, so much torque. Power delivery is so hard and smooth. Really wish I had this done years ago, makes the car so enjoyable to drive. Fuel economy has improved when not driving like an idiot, which I must admit is very difficult not to do. Something really adictive about spooling up the turbo and wasting other cars!!
Two months of pure pleasure, not problems at all other than the tyres are taking a hammering due to a more heavy right foot.
Cannot recommend this enough, please give Nick a call at R-tech you will not be disappointed for the money!

Ah I read it as he was going to fit them and not that he already had :embarassed: Either way, one SHOULD be fitted

Hello,
We have many many happy customers running R-Tech spec1, 2 and 3 remap on there Mk5 TFSI.
A spec1 remap will be £250 all inc, this comes with rolling road session, before and after datalogging, pre remap heath check ect.
We also offer a Spec1 custom remap for £290 which is a map setup for how you want the car to feel and also allow us to iron out flats spots which are unique to your cars setup. You find a small guide on the mk5 custom mapping here > http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=159756.0
As for phone calls, the phone dont stop ringing all day long and we only have one incomming line.. :embarassed: and as for email we are having issues with the service providers end of the system. You can always try workshop@r-techpower.co.uk or nick@bigbhp.co.uk

I am looking to get my MK5 remapped soon, and you R-Tech guys sound amazing. Only problem is I live in Kent.
I can see you have a mobile mapping service, but I would like to get the full custom map. Is this possible with the mobile mapping service or do you guys need it on the rolling road? If it is possible how much would it be?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
For custom mapping you would need to bring your car up to our workshop to allow us to carry out the custom work on the dyno, its the visual picture of the graphs we need to see whats going on and where to alter the mapping, for the data from datalogging and the power runs.

Ok cool, thanks for the reply.
Looks like I will need to find a free weekend to travel up to you guys.

Hi, thanks for all the replies so far. It seems like its a very good map for the car and worth the investment! I love the GTI too, but I had a remapped 1.8T previously and miss the torque!
Quick question for Nick...
In regards to your quoted prices above, can I just seek clarification.
Your quote Stage 1 Performance price on your website is £200, as apposed to £250 above. Which is the correct figure? :)
Also, your ebay listing (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150635839002&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT) looks very much to be the Custom Stage 1 remap, this is priced at £250 or best offer, not £290 - Is this an eBay special offer only? Im happy to buy through eBay if so!
If you could confirm I would be most grateful !
-
Lol the price is wrong on the website is should be a tier higher than the 1.8t maps, but for now I will honour the price on the website while the new website is under construction which should be ready for autumn. This all got messed up during the price revise a few months back.
With the eBay listing you will get the spec1 custom remap for £250 saving £40 off the listed £290 price.
Plus every summer we run a £50 off voucher in the golf+ magazine valid until November.
-
Thanks for your reply Nick. Glad I could point that out to you
Looks like eBay it is then for the custom stage 1!
How does your map work with DSG cars, do you limit the torque?

No need to limit the torque on the dsg, the gear box can take much more torque then what the tfsi ko3 can chuck at it. The dsg Gti is much better with a stronger torque map, I makes the short shift much better.

Sounds good to me! I love the DSG box and would strugle to go back to the manual now!
Hmm, I have the August 2011 edition of Golf+ at home, Ill have to dig through and see if I can find your promotion.
Thanks again for your help Nick.

I'd like to come up in a couple of weeks time if you'll honour the price for me. Thinking Thursday 18th august if that's possible? Just after a spec 1 remap, although I may need a custom one. What bhp can I expect to achieve realistically? I have a Forge Twintake and Miltek cat back fitted to my MK5 GTI but can't go to anything more than +25% due to insurance. I don't see this being an issue but want to check first.

Hello,
Not a problem I will keep the price for you at £250 for a custom setup, The only booking slot we have left on the 18th is the 12.30 slot (this is a 3.5hr session) if this is any good for you? Realistic power will be around 230-240bhp, with the limiting factor for us being the down pipe and car.
If you would like to book the 12.30 18th Aug slot you can send me a PM with a contact number or call the office on 01455 617233.
Regards
Nick
