I posted on here before that I was having bubbling on my arches and that others had the same problem.
I decided that I should put it in for repair, that was on the 11th July, its apparently going to be ready this Wednesday which will take it up to the 23 day mark.
What can I do or ask as a sweetener from VW for taking too long to do the works? The turn over should be 3/5 days.

I had the same problem with my 05 GTI, rust was found on both front arches. It is a known problem with the MK5 that the interior arch rubs on the exterior causing the rust.
After many a call to VW head office and a letter to the dealership I brought it from, I got VW to pay for 90% of the work (they replaced both front arches) My car was in the Sevenoaks VW garage for no more than a week.
If I was you I would be on the phone to get some sort of explanation as to why it has taken so long. As for the garage/VW compensating you I would deffo ask the question as it is a known fault with the MK5.

For info:
I spoke with Customer Services Manager who in turn offered me a free MOT at my local VW garage.
My service is due before my MOT and asked if I could have a free Service, unfortuntly he said he couldnt do that as I was mobile during the period of having my car off the road. I asked if I could have the price of the MOT deducted from my next service which was agreed.
I suppose better than nothing. Nice guy right enough and helpful.
