I have two PS3's at the front and two Exaltos at the rear and one Exalto has a puncture. So not wanting to fork out for two new tyres to have a matching set all-round I am wondering about replacing the Exalto with a hole in it with a PS3 (as I can't find exaltos anywhere).
Will this be safe to do and it will it matter much about tread being lower on old exalto vs new PS3?
-
i thought you ment playstation 3

Playstation 3's would be more expensive than Pilot Sport 3's, plus more importantly they're not round enough. :)
-
ive got 4 ps'3  3 of them need repairs lols

What car?
Ideally you should run tyres in pairs, or as a matched set on 4WD, but if it's a Golf3 none of these rules apply as you can use any old tyre as a fender.

I should have said the car sorry, it's a Mk5 GTI.

A playstation 3 would be better than a playstation 2 though thanks to more roundness

cant you just repair puncture?
-
Apparently it's in a place that can't be repaired according to MOT guy. I haven't even found the nail yet!

so in or within 1" of the wall :undecided:
sucks

I thought it was recommended to have the same brand of tyre on the same axle.

the law says you can't mix radial and cross-ply, you can mix brands / patterns etc as long as they are the same construction.

lol unless you rotate you tyres then they are always going to have different amounts of tread left on them, as long as you replace them with legal tyres then legally you're safe.
-
Legally you can do it okay. No problems there.
How hard do you drive? If you're a fairly sedate driver then you'd be okay to mix the tyres a little but if you like to press on a bit why not buy two matching PS3s and sell the Exalto on ebay? You'd probably get half the cost of the new tyre and not have any worries about mis-matched tyres.
As the old saying goes, there are only four small patches of rubber holding you on the road; so how much value do you put on that?

Couple of tons of concrete in the boot or are you just fond of pies?
It's the bit when gravity loses interest when it can get expensive and painful!!
