not sure but i have seen a vag sump gaurd for a mk 2, so they must have been made for a reason. i seem to think swg might make a sump gaurd?

and the golf country, there was a sump guard and a diff guard and a big sheet thing to go under the whole front underneath, right back to the subframe mounts

looked it up on etka  :grin:
