Has anyone painted the rear diffuser on their GTD or replaced it with anything different?
Is it simple to remove?
How does it compare to the GTI as I believe it is painted black?
Any pics would help. Thanks.

Here's my rear. Painted in the same metallic dark grey as the front spoiler bit. Don't know the paint code. Filthy pooh pipes.

Worth it. Makes the rear look classy and is very easy to clean. Do it!

Golf R rear is gloss black. Either anthracite or black will look good. I'd go for black as it will match the front grille and you won't have to go through the colour matching problems I had.

OK thanks for that

The R diffuser is gloss black plastic, like the B pillar stuff and as such will no doubt be a b!tch to care for methinks, i imagine a painted finish would be less hassle?

It wont make you go any faster... leave it as it is

I don't think the GTD diffuser is as 'shapely' as the GTI one so it might be an option to just wrap it in vinyl (nightmare on the GTI one). Then if you think the colour doesn't look right you can just take it off again and try something different.
I saw a Scirocco the other day that had a wrapped diffuser and it looked good.

I was looking at a GTI today and the diffuser looked grey - I always thought they were black like the side skirts?
-
I thought the sideskirts were grey too? i'll have a nosey when i get home.

Might have been the light I guess...

They're just plain dimpled plastic like mk5 skirts and rear bumper. They look black when they're new but quickly fade.
