I have discovered I have oil in my water on my Golf Mk2 GTI 8 valve 1990.
The car all runs fine and doesn't smoke, doesn't overheat. I have recently changed my oil and filter and I have noticed it after that.
Someone has suggested it may be the oil coller rather than the head gasket ?????
Has anyone got any ideas before I spend vast amounts on having the head gasket done please ???

Oil cooler is a common failure. You could by-pass it, clean out the coolant system, and see if the oil comes back.

Pull the 2 pipes off and join together, flush out the cooling system and see if it comes back.

As Wayne said, flush and join the pipes together. Its a good chance it is the cooler, they are a common failure.
Only one way to find out...
