right chaps,
thanks to dave_IOW i have got a oem set off lights to hand,
what is the most practical way of doing this mod,
smashing the glass in set A and then try and take the the glass off set B and then seal together,
or trying to bake one set in te oven to take the glass off.
i did use the search but couldnt find the real answer

You can bake em, but be very careful! I did it to mine and the plastic started melting!
You should be able to use a stanley knife to go round and break the sealant, then prise them apart with a small flat head screwdriver.
Have a search in the Mk3 section as alot of us do it and it cant be much different with mk4 lights. I'm sure there is a guide in the mk3 maintenance section but cant be arsed to look!

well so far
i have taken this route,
dremmel basicly 95%of all thhe black plastic off the head light unit-so im left with just the lense and say 2mm of the plastic still on,
then bung the lenses in the oven for 2 mins and peel the remaing plastic off.just leaving the lense and the sealent that was used to put them together in the 1st place.

Glad its going alright mate :afro:
