Hi,
Recently the cruise control on my mk5 DSG has begun dropping out at random moments. Following this it can not be switched on again and the absence of the light on the dash reflects this. The only way to get it back is by switching the ignition off and on again. I've heard a rumour that it might be the switch on the stalk that is at fault, however it seems strange that the ignition can reset the cruise if this is the case.
Any ideas? If it is the switch, is it a DIY job, or will I need to take it to a garage?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks Brush57.
Sounds like that could be the problem then. Hopefully I can fix it myself! Well in sure I can take it apart anyway. What follows after that could be interesting! :undecided: !

I have exactly same issue with my cruise. Its been like it for ages. IE Sometime it wont come on. Others time you can turn on / off say 4 / 5 times then it will stay off untill you turn off. I do find if I use it if the green light is on it will last the journey.
If anyone else has hand this and fixed then let us know.

you have a switch on clutch and brake pedals too.
