Any current GTD owners had Guard X applied to their new cars?  If so the pros and cons would be appreciated to make a decision as to if its worthwhile having it done.

I presume you mean the cleaning package? On pistonheads they are quoting £299 but that post was 2 years old. I had the AutoGlym lifeshine package at half price £175, I've always used AutoGlym and I find it pretty good. You can get all there products from Halfords or eBay.

I had my car Toughsealed (Eurochem) both inside and outside. The product is excellent, but when I get a new car I would not bother. Best to look after it in the 'normal' way and fiddle as little as possible with the paintwork. Less is more.

Gtechniq all the way for me, though I`m into detailing.

G1 is brilliant but not for someone who isnt too sure what they`re doing.

'IF' applied properly to a prepared surface and not simply slapped on after a quick wash, then it will be okay'ish. Don't believe the hype that it will last years, as that's utter tosh. You will have to maintain the sealant, so if you have to do some work then why not do it from the start and save a good few pounds.

Plenty quality sealants around that are easy to use such as wolfs, nanolex and g-technic. Maybe consider getting a new car protection detail by a local 'quality' detailer for the price you'd pay for the guard-x. That way you know the car will be spot on and he will offer advice on how to maintain it.

I wouldnt bother just buy yourself a decent wax , Colinite or Dodo Sn if you like detailing this is best way IMO  :wink:

I agree with Steve. These products are aimed at people who only wash their cars every other month and think that by blacking the tyres they will have give it a full "vallet".
