Title: Abs on mk2
Post by: Dave_IOW on 27 July 2011, 19:33
Ok, so trying to help out a mate, he's got a mk2 16v engine and has fitted a abs pump from a passat b3, question is, how would I bleed the pump with vagcom?

Yeah seen that mate, just vagcom won't recognise properly the abs. It's got a b3 unit and abs ecu(?)  and comes up ABS under bag number, just won't do anything after that..

Will it not bleed out with a pressure bleeder.

Tbh Wayne I have no idea, its just only done my mk4 one through vagcom and pressumed this would be similar? Will pressure bleed work on an abs unit then?

I've only ever used a pressure bleeder, never used VAG com.

Dave at work we only use pressure bleeder (2bar vas one) only need to operate the pump if it's completely dry which I would think yours is not. You should be able to prime pump through vag com or vcds if not some you can power up thr abs pump manually by puttin 12v to it HTH

Thanks pal, yeah its completely dry. Can't get it to connect to vagcom atall, so will have to connect straight to 12v and do it that way

It's a passat b3 pump and unit but still can't get to connect on vagcom no matter what we try.

Pressure bleeder, I think is the answer.
