VW Festival is at Harewood house. I went to the first few VW Festivals and were ok, it used to be a day show but I think you can camp now. http://www.vwfestival.co.uk/

Tatton is more air-cooled I think, but I've never been. http://www.vwnw.co.uk/index2.htm

The Leeds do is quite a nice do. Your ticket gets you entry also to Harewood House and the bird garden. The VW element is the usual sort of stuff but there's a big beer tent and the loos were the best temporary loos I've ever seen when I went 2 years ago!!!! Worth going just for them.
I'm going this year with the Mk2 and the Mk6. Thinking of selling the Mk2 so I might stick a big notice in the window and see what happens.

The Leeds event is a good do - I used to go a couple of years ago and show my MKIV GTi.

Lots of stuff across the VW range plus a healthy dose of countryside, the stately home and bird garden. You're as close to Harrogate as you are the the centre of Leeds, so cna take your pick from either if you (or the missus) want somewhere elso to go en route.

You know my thoughts Ian, Leeds for me unfortunately not this year has Ill be in Scotland but been to the last 3 and its a really good show with every Vag car you can think of turning up.

Has for Harewood House you get entry to all the grounds so it makes a full day if you get bored looking at cars? which I don't think you will.

Darren

Leeds festival is more watercooled and u tend to get bored pretty quick, tatton is a great show tho with music, loads of stalls and generally a far better atmosphere, I will be at tatton showing the mk6 so come say hello, also if ur not from around cheshire I recommend going into knustford (2min away) and having a drink and some food there some great bars and food served wherever u go. Mugli (sp?) Is a great indian and there is the likes of gusto's and picalinos (sp?) Or a few good local pubs, if u stay late on visit the wine bar near the indian I mentioned as its full of some fine women, great live music and usually some tasty cars outside to look at. If anyone wants any more info on the show or local area just give me a pm. Happy to help :)

I agree the Leeds one isn't the biggest show but there's a nice atmosphere and the setting is lovely. We always take a picnic so as long as the weather's fine it's just a pleasant way to spend a Sunday.
I went two years ago and had the only Mk6 at the show so it generated quite a bit of interest. It won't this time, of course as there'll be plenty of others about. Maybe the Mk2 will be of more interest - there's not many totally original ones around anymore.

Much much bigger than 2 years ago when I first took the Mk6. That time I parked near the House and it seemed to be the only Mk6 there. This year I was parked miles away. Turned up at 9.30 and wasn't even allowed to take the Mk2 in, even though I lied that I was entering it for the S&S. Maybe they just thought it was crap!!! The Mk6 was just dismissed as a "standard car" so both were parked up miles away and it was a long walk to the event.
Having said that I thought it was really good. Nice and chilled and loads more stalls than I remember last time. Some top metal about. Loads of campers (I so want one of them), good turn out by the Mk5 and R32 boys but didn't see any other Mk6s at all.

Yes, I took both. Parked right next to the road on the left as you drove in.
