Was thinking of getting an iPad2 at the weekend then thought heard a rumour iPad 3 might be out end of year beginning of next?
Anyone actually know when it's due out?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was out before Xmas. Hold fire and see, it'll be a better upgrade than the 2 from iPad 1 was.

not sure about flash, but rumour has it is that it will have a hi res screen. The analogy is:
ipad 2: macbook
ipad 3: macbook pro

It's coming in September, apparently.
There may well be a new ipad coming out soon, like bobo said it will have a higher res screen and faster processor, but it will more likely be called the ipad2 pro.
The only reason Apple will break away from their current ipad a year is that technology is evolving too quickly and they're missing out.

No offense to your mrs, but all she has is rumours. Nothing is official about any Apple product until it appears in their online store, or Steve Jobs announces it on stage.
If you want one, and like what they can do now, buy one. If you wait until they launch a new one, you'll be waiting a while until they actually have stock, then at some point they'll launch another one and you'll feel in the same position as now. Technology is always changing, you just have to get on with it and buy what you want ;)
It would make sense for them to launch a new iPhone to coincide with the new iOS 5 in quarter 4 of this year, however it would probably be a minor revision, unlike 3gs to 4. The US carriers all deal with 2 year contracts on mobiles, so anyone who bought a 4 (the bulk of their consumers) wont be able to upgrade yet, so the market wont be ready for them.

Again though, this will just be a stock marker being used internally by phones 4 u - it wont have come from Apple. If it had, tech blogs like Engadget would have picked up on it.

iPhone 5 is almost 100% certainly coming out this year, most likely september. The white 4 is irrelevant, its a year old phone and the galaxy S II is light years ahead.
It will be a bigger upgrade from the 3GS to 4, i didn't even bother as you only really got a camera and the applications didn't stretch the processor until more recently. Retina was the only thing i wanted.
Expect the A5 chip from the ipad 2, a different shell (Apple doesnt like the iPhone 4 shape any more) and as thin or thinner than the iPad 2. Also expect an 8MP camera. Other than that who knows?!
iPad 3 will be an iPad 2 'pro' with a better screen (maybe retina) and possibly thunderbolt connections. Everything is speculation though with Apple.

According to the Korea Times, while talking to a bunch of reporters about LG's Retina Display he let slip more smartphone manufacturers will release new models employing LG's Retina Display "that has been used in iPhones and iPads"
Im holding off an iPad 2 until i see what gets released, again a September date is likely.

Oh and America do 1 year contracts now as most smart phones have 6 month - 1 year life cycle and they picked up they can make good money from yearly upgrades.

I'm not being funny but people in the phone shops and call centers wont know anything more than the general public.
Any thing they do know would can probably be found on the internet anyway.
My friend works in the o2 call center and he knows his stuff about O2 and deals with iphones a lot and he doesn't know anything breath taking.
Ipad 3 will not be out this year. I will bet my car on it..

Like anything else...u pay for the latest and greatest or you can wait until new technology comes out and get it a but cheaper...technology is constantly moving on so ur screwed either way...plasma, LCD, led, 3d......etc etc

I wouldnt bet your money on that at all!!!! and apple had allready said the 5 will not be a major upgrade more working out the probs of the 4 and the white iphone 4 is not irrelevant as it cost apple millions delaying it due to colour leak on the screen so they will want to sell a few units lol!! If the iphone 5 comes out this year i will be very surprised.... and yes us do 1 year contracts but like hereto get phone free most contracts are 24 months... as for spec of the iphone 5 everything is nothing more than a rumour!

O i agree with ya the iphone white is pointless but there are idiots outhere jules!! lol but A5 processor would be a beast and i do hope its at least 8mp but i have alsoheard possible 10mp like you say its all specualtion :D

I know someone who is testing the iPhone 5 now for a large mobile phone company he is under non-disclosure atm so he can't tell me details, expect launch in September/October maybe even sooner. With regards to the iPad 3, it's not going to happen in the way people think. It will be a Pro version of the iPad2 much like their pro versions of other products. It will be more expensive but aimed at the professional user such as their core customers like graphic designers.

I very much doubt anyone outside of Apple is 'field' testing it after the Gizmodo 'leak', Apple don't even let their own employees take their test products home, never mind giving them out to be tested this far in advance. The dude who had it and wrote the article got pwnd by Apple and the feds.
The A5 chip is a dead give away, unless they have the A6 ready (I'd be shocked), Apple are (trial running?) using another manufacturer for the A5 chip now as they are in lawsuits with Samsung, who currently makes the A5. Anything else is pure speculation and I recommend joining an Apple forum to discuss and speculate further, because most posts on here will be what his mates brothers fathers uncles second cousins aunties nephew thrice removed said and he works for XYZ mobile phone company so knowz whats what init.

Yes but rumours from people who have supplied info in the past and been correct this time.
Looks like September will be a release for some form of new iPhone, even if it is just an iPhone 4'S'

I bought an ipad 2 whilst in the states a few weeks ago and....................
Love it. Still a pain in the @ss having to use itunes to update it etc, but a fab piece of kit none the less (possible jailbreaking after warranty runs out(has anybody else done this yet to theirs))?
With regards to the release dates, speakting to the guys in Apple (and I got to know a couple of them fairly well as I was pestering them every day for about 6 or 7 days for a specific ipad) they dont even have a clue.
Question for you all... Is anybody bothered about possibly buying the next generation of apple (or any electronic) product due to the problems that Japan have had with regard to the Earthquake and lack of production etc... Therefore companies having to look elsewhere for possibly inferior products?

Not sure if it's been said yet but I've just found out the new iPhone is not going to be the iPhone 5, its deffo the iPhone 4GS. someone I know used one this week at work ;o)
