Hi all,
Im after someone to give me a little help or guidance. I have designed up a badge for the back of my car that i want to have waterjet cut from alloy plate.
I have drawn my design by hand a scanned it, but no company will quote me for it to be done unless i can supply it in either dxf or dwg. I have no idea what either of those files are as i have no experience with CAD drawing.
If anyone can point me in the direction of how to have this done, or even better is willing to do it, it would be very much appreciated.
Heres what im after....

I want it to be around 200mm wide and 75mm high.
Cheers

you can do the drawing in something like illustrator or Corel Draw and then export it as a .DWG or .DXF file.

Good info, will be useful in the future

also there are free "student versions" of autocad on the internet (use to creat a .dwg cad file) all you need is a student email i.e something with @"college name or uni name".co.uk or something. so if your wanting to give it a go yourself check out the autocad website.

2d cad work isn't much more involved than using mspaint. You could learn how to do simple stuff like that in an hour or two. You could even import your jpg file as a raster image and just trace over it. Man up and teach yourself something new

I actually teach level 2 & 3 autocad, could send you some course material if you wanted?
-
started it this morning, will be done by tomorrow for you
-
Can I take you up on that offer about the auto cad material?
I need to learn how to use it buy usually don't have the time with everything else going on at work.
I have google sketch up with all intentions of just using that but I can never get anything to actually go together, or create anything!
-
Wicked news! cant wait to see what you have come up with!
Cheers for the offer of the material, i'll pm you my email and you can send it over when you have time!

Don't forget to tag in the D,A,R etc etc otherwise you will just end up with holes.(think army font)..Also water jet will be a tad expensive for just a one off.Just laser cut it,I,m guessing the Ali will not be very thick. You thought about brushed stainless?,Got a sh1t load of that.

Dragging this topic back to the top as i could still do with a little help with this porject. I now have a better version than on the first page but it still needs finishing and converting to the right file type. I now have a company lined up to do the waterjet cutting at a pretty good price. Here's what i now have...
