Title: So then, which watch won't you be buying next then?
Post by: The Doc on 24 July 2011, 11:40
In other threads we have been informed on what members might or might not up-size, down-size or stay-size with for their next automobile purchase.

Now, may I ask which watch you won't buy next.

In my case, if I singled out one watch manufacturer, it is the revolting Armarni watch range which represents fashion over quality - you?

I am not too keen on Casio and Swatch watches as well as those Armarni ones.

Timex, every time I've ever owned one it has lost time, gained time or broken down completely within a month of getting the damnable thing

I HATE fashion watches, £600 for a cr@p watch just because some designer sticks their name on it.

I've not worn a watch for over 3 years. My battery needed replacing just before we went away on holiday and it needed sending away, so I thought it would wait until we got back. When we got back, I found I'd not really missed it and have not worn one since.

It's actually quite liberating.

I think swatch watches are good value for money tbh - do they still use eta movements as per TAG etc?

My first luxury watch is a Tudor hydronaut and has been wearing the same watch for 10 years+. I works my socks off to save up to buy watches that I really fancy and will not lose too much money when I need to sell! That's why I stick with Patek and Rolex only.

Last year I got both black and white face Daytona SS. I also bought the old 36mm explorer 1
This year I bought a 5127g calatrava and 5711r nautilus.

My grail watch is 5960p which is way out of my league!

Anything that costs more than £300! If you spend money on mods, hopefully your car gets quicker, safer etc., spend it on hi-fi & you get to hear more of your favourite music.....spend 5k on a watch & time stays the same

Steve,

I'll post pictures of the Tudor when I get home after work!

I suffer bad OCD with my car and watches. After I detail my car and finish it off with Zymol field glaze, I use the same stuff on the watch which makes it shines like hell when the sun hits the metal links! Worst thing about wearing good looking watches is sometimes you keep looking at your wrist rather than the road ahead!

I have a TAG too but don't consider the brand as top-end anymore however the Grand Carrera is a very nice watch indeed and puts them back up there with the big boys imho (although not the proper boys)

I was tempted by a TT GMT but I am resisting any further purchase and concentrating back to cars in the next few years!

Agreed esp. older Tudor. The mechanicals and even the bracelets are literally the same with Rolex watches. Tough watch---still keeping good time despite I haven't service it-maybe this year! Not sure this is still the case with current models!
