Well its been a while since I last posted a new topic on this forum. I've been over on the R32OC for a few years...
2 weeks ago I decided enough was enough and the MK5 R32 I currently own was costing me too much money to own, what with £700+ a year to insurance, £460 a year to tax, £300-400 a year to service and then the fuel on top. So I went to my local VW dealer and looked at the Golf GTD, I immediately knew I wanted one and was going to buy one. I then found out about the 20-25 week build time, I told the sales guy there was no way I was waiting that long so he jumped on his system and found a brand new GTD that was suitable at another dealers... Well one week on the car is going to be with the dealer next week, it will have it PDI and then add a couple of dealer fit options and I will be able to pick it up towards the end of next week... 25 weeks down to one.. Result!!!
I picked a 3 door candy white, which will be identical to the below car..

I really really really want the Vancouver 18" alloys though, so they might come at a later date..

Nice one, welcome to the fold
When will it be ready then?
-
Thanks...
Fingers crossed Friday/Saturday... Its got to be transported down from another dealers, so hopefully Monday/Tuesday they will get that sorted.
-
Sweet mate welcome to the world of great MPG
-
Looking forward too it... 50+ here we come..

Keith mate, I don't know what your doing with your diesel but your car can't be using it - even Snoops gets 52 MPG from his GTI going to work and back
-
I'm doing nothing outrageous Doc its just 70% local trips in a 30mph but on a motorway I generally cruise at 80-90mph but it still shows 50mpg on the MFD. As I said in another thread
I did my monthly fill up the other day and my calc says its gone from 42mpg to 46.5mpg on the last fill up I'm driving it no differently than I've always drove it. So it must be loosening up a bit more now?
So this will depend on the type of driving that knobby does?
-
Never a truer word said - driving style and duty are the making or breaking of MPG.

Hi Guys...
Well picked up the new GTD at lunchtime today... My first ever new car... It had 10 miles on the clock.. :) Felt really weird driving out the showroom, very odd experience. lol.

I quite fancy some BBS CH, like the below.. Did have my mind set on some Vancouvers but its a lot of money for a standard set of rims.

Congratulations.
I think your car has the nicest 17" wheels of any VW Golf. If my GTI was available with those 17" wheels, I would not have bought 18" Monza Shadows. The 17" Monzas are not very appealing to the eye, IMO.

Mmm, I can just smell the new car aroma oozing out of that interior shot
Congrats and good luck with the BBS hunt.

Andy what on earth are you doing up and posting on the forum at 4.52 am

Glad to hear you're enjoying the GTD, and also good to know I'm not the only R32 owner heading back to the dark side (although I'm still debating whether to embrace my inner hairdresser with a tdi tt, if not gtd it'll be) Personally reckon the CH's would be the icing on the cake (oh and a trip to the doc for a map!). Enjoy!

Ah, well you see Amanda, I'd just left the Casino with a blonde on each arm and headed home for a quick nightcap whilst counting my winnings...........
......then again, it might have been that I'd just got home from my boring nightshift, shoved the kettle on and decided to post some crap on the internet 'cos I've got no friends!!!
One of those two options anyway, take your pick!!

LOL I actually know the feeling, but tbh even I can't be arsed to post at that time of morning mainly cos my brain is mashed. PS you've got many friends on here. Asker positively oozes love for you

A few more pictures...
Well I washed it after it had only done 70 miles... Think the people in my street think i'm mad..
We have just had a road near us resurfaced and the tar is much more noticeable on a white car. I had a go at claying it, which took some of it off but not everything. Need to add some paint cleaner/tar remover to my detailing collection.. Can anyone recommend something?

Hi
Car is looking very nice - for the tar I can really recommend Autosmart Tardis. Superb product. If you have an Autosmart rep in your area then they are your best bet but if not then try Polished Bliss - http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/autosmart-tardis.html

My brain is mashed all the time, which probably explains the rubbish I post up on here.
I was kidding about the friends btw; going for the sympathy vote!
And now I must abandon this thread as the word 'detailing' has crept into it, this word has the same effect on me as someone talking about computer hard drives and those other bits and bobs in them that have lots of mixed letters and numbers that mean nothing to real humans....zzzZZZZZZzzzzZZZZZ..... :nerd:

I knew there was a reason I went for a GTD...

I want to order some new wheels.. Been thinking about some BBS CH's.. However the BBS VZ 033 are currently on offer and nearly identical. Would want to run 18's. Dont think i want to go the 19" as they can spoil the ride.
I'd look to lower on some H&R lowering springs as part of getting the wheels.
What do you think?

Rubbish pictures but you get the idea.
-
Cool, I'm guessing that's standard ride height.
Why did you change? Just fancied a change?
-
come on dave you know its all about the dish  Get some 10J rears on there!
-
I had the wheels on my mk5 and the looked perfect. But I wasn't so happy with the look of them on the mk6. Maybe too much silver? Dunno. But I reckon the mk6 is a bulky looking car and benefits from spokes that go right to the edge of the wheel, hence the CKs currently on the car.
I've had about 7 sets of wheels now and finally found the set that look the best to my eyes, which is ironically the set I wanted all along. Hey ho, it was fun on the journey!!
-
One area where the VZ033 is better than the CH is that they come in ET44 which sits them just right in the arches. The CH tends to come in ET50 and they need spacers on the back to look right.

Thats next year.... Don't want to go wild on my first set..
I'm not sure on the BBS VZ 033's now. They don't have the wow factor. Yet they do look really smart on the Blue Mk6.

A few good pics of VZ033s on a white GTI here:
