Title: Golf Gti Mk3 Misfire
Post by: BazMK1 on 23 July 2011, 21:47
Hi

I have a Golf Gti MK3 GTi 2.0 8V that has a misfire problem.

I have had it on the diagnostic machine at work and its come up with the following error:

01252 - Injector Cylinder 4 - N33 Short with Ground

I Have done a Ohms test on the injector which off auto data says it should be 14 - 18.  The injector on the car is 14.9.

Also have checked the supply voltage and that is 12.4V which it should be 11-14V when cranking the engine.

On the autodata it says you can check the signal,  Says you put an LED between terminals 1 & 2 in the wiring to the injector,  and says the LED should flash....  I have done this but the LEd doesnt flash when cranking the engine,  it just stays illuminated.

Does this mean that there is a problem with the signal to the injector?

Thanks for your time

Baz

not sure if the injectors on the golf are "earth switching" or "live switching"

but if they are earth switching and it has a short to earth then the led will be constantly on.

is fuel getting up to the cylinders at all ?

have you checked all the injectors, or just one ?
