Title: golf mk2 gti cutting out

I really need help 2 fix this as its getting dangerous! once my golf mk2 gti has warmed up it starts cutting out when u put the clutch in & the revs drop 2 tickover. its very problematic when tackling roundabouts or junctions. does anybody know what the cause could be? also once the car is warmed up & u go 2 start it it cuts out straight away. please help!!

It most likely needs setting up, as per rubjonnys guide. Before you do that, check static timing is spot on and that all vacuum hoses are not leaking anywhere, also check air intake pipes for leaks,and splits in rubber boots, and the throttle switch wiring isn't perished/ broken
