I am due to collect my GTD tomorrow, 10 months from order all but 7 days, is this a record?
Hopefully it will go well as I had a few minor problems with the dealer during the week in regard to storage kit and mudflaps. But thanks to forum members and their knowledge I was well able to correct the dealer.
Anyway I will update with pics in due course. My thanks to you all!

10 months
Lets hope they've put on the bits you've ordered :lipsrsealed:

Sounds like a very long time mate.
I hope its everything you expected

your mad for holding on...

Mad is most likely right. However I think it was worth the wait. DSG is a dream to drive along with ACC and the LED number plate lights just finishes the rear quitely nicely IMO. Pics of what I waited on:

Lovely  Well wear!
Can you try getting a pic of the number plate leds? It's a mod I want to do, assuming it doesn't cause hassle with dash bulb warning errors.

I get a couple of photos this week.

Noel
Well worth waiting for - 10 months is criminal but that's history now so enjoy your new car.
Looks very nice and great spec!

Hi Noel. That looks really nice! Looks good in red with the 18" Charlestons.
Picked my GTD up earlier this month after an 8 month wait; think you'll find it's worth the wait. I see you've got the Bi-xenons. This is the first car I've had with xenons and I think they're great!

Same here. The light output from them is incredible. Plus they do make the front end of the car look that bit more special.

That's a cracking looking motor right there, nice job and great spec

Very nice car. I'm not sure that I would have put up with that length of wait though. Unless you are keeping it for a good few years, you'll need to start thinking about what to have next at this rate.

One very smart motor, starting to see more and more with the 18" and Xenon combo GHD's coming out now. They look GOOOOOOOOOD!
PS. Nice Flaps!
-
That is one sexy little red hot number you got there
Thats the first time I've also seen Charleston shadows and the Bi-Xenons on a red car and they look fanatastic ( makes me nearly want to buy a GTD  )
You must be well please, congratulations.
I love the smell of napalm new cars in the morning

Considering you're the most patient person in the world, I'm going to reply to this message in 8 months time.
Congratulations, the car looks awesome.

Thanks for the comments. Hope these pics are useful. The LED plate lights give a nice bright white even light across the entire plate. I also think the option of the colour MFD isd a good improvement. Its very smooth running through the mens and very easy to read.

Very nice, thanks for those pics! I'll have to try retro fitting those. Has anyone else here attempted to retro fit these LED's yet ?

I've attempted to buy some and VW don't seem to have any in stock, for ever?

The 18" Charlestone's look really good. I've specked them on my new Carbon Grey GTD which is now at the dealers awaiting 1st Sept on the road.

Does it really make a difference waiting to register it to Sept.

It might make a difference, but how much will depend on individual circumstances and a number of factors (such as whether you have a trade in, and if you've agreed a price on it). I chose not to wait until September and picked my car up 2 weeks ago. However the importance placed on having the new registration plate is very much a personal thing.
I considered the following factors.
1. I'd already waited 8 months from date of order so didn't want to wait another 6-7 weeks.
2. Taking delivery of my car mid July during a relatively quiet period meant there was less risk of the dealer missing things during the PDI as they have fewer cars to prepare. I've had experience of a poor PDI in the past when I took delivery during a busy period. Things were missed that never should have been and it was quite stressful getting these sorted out.
3. I've got my car to enjoy during what's left of the summer.
4. Any higher value of a '61 plate car against an '11 plater when you eventually come to sell it might be more than offset by the lower trade in value you get for your current car in part exchange in September (if you're trading in, that is) compared to a July trade in value.
5. I'm planning on keeping my car 4-5 years so whether it's a July '11 plate or Sept '61 plate probably won't make that much difference when I come to sell it. If I was looking to buy a 4-5 year old car, I'd consider condition, mileage, spec and how the car has been maintained as more important than the registration plate identifier.
6. There might be advantages to not having the 'new' '61 registration plate in September; less likely to be the victim of vandalisam by those jealous types who don't like you to have what they can't have; sad but unfortunately true.............
Having said that, everyones circumstances and priorities are different. I have to say that if my car hadn't arrived until towards the end of August, I'd probably have waited until September to take delivery.
