hi y`all , could do with a suggestion or two. bought my mates mk3 when the cam belt jumped and having replaced the valves etc thought i was in the clear. put it in for an mot and it failed on the abs. the abs warning bulb was broken , so hadn`t noticed. once fixed it decided to stay on.checked voltages and resistances, even replaced two sensors before accepting that i had no idea and bought a vag com. hydraulic pump it said. replaced that today but now getting (01044)transmission controller module ,incorrectly coded. is it possible that this is referring to the controller attached to the abs pump or is it something else. prior to the mot i STUPIDLY splashed some white spirit and water about the engine bay and though i was carefull and the engine looks great i`m worried that i might just end up chasing error codes about due to moisture. i have sprayed wd40 everywhere and blown it all out with the airline but still the doubt remains.

01044 is the abs controller incorrectly coded (ecu), clear the code and drive for a few days and see if it returns (b.t.w does the light go off?)

alas the light is bright as ever.so the referral to transmission controller actually meant the abs controller? thats a positive thing at least. i think i`ll see if i can get another module. the new part number was the same as the old one but for the D at the end which was missing . guess maybe it was important.

I'm having similar prob's with my abs system. According to vcds, i had the R/R sensor go up the swanny with the F/L sensor, so replaced them and cleared all fault codes. and still the abs light is shining brightly! So had a chat with my local VW dealer, i knew more than the technician! lol. Alas, they want £75 to look at my car, I said no thank's.., I'll go buy the full license through Ross-Tech then you can do all coding of modules like the problem you've come up with. Persevere and you'll get to the bottom of it
