hey guys, what is the best FD to stick in a 1400 8v so that the car's not sreaming it's tats off when sitting at 70 on the motorway??

It's all about insurance cost, that's why I'm keeping the mk3's until i get a few years more no claims

get some audio gear turn up loud or get ya self on gaybay and get a stright though pipe for centre box and get a back box with no packing that will cure it     :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin:

they ara all no help what so ever, I want to find a better fd not new stereo etc...

a better fd would improve fuel economy also!

doing 60 miles at 70 is using 1/4 of a tank, yet with a better final drive it could get to 1/8th of a tank!

doubt it will get much better but you can find a list of all gear ratios in the gearbox faq in the transmission section of clubgti

Given the amount of torque the 1.4 has, i doubt it would move if you put a different finall drive in.

Slowing down to 60 would save you more money than changing the gearbox

Any savings you may make in fuel will be outweighed by the cost of changing the fd. Really not worth it.

Any modifications to a 1.4 lump are pointless imo.
