right basically i got a quote from a good company of roughly 1340 pounds for this :
-boot smoothing so removal of boot handle and flushing of the vw badge
-smoothing indicator holes
-smooth bump strips and number plate recess
-removal of door strips
-smoothin aerial hole on roof
-roll arches
anyone know where i can get this cheaper
-
Sounds about the right price with the amount of work involved, if you could get it cheaper what standard would it be.
-
spose its worth it it is with paint might save money and buy the bumpers already smoothed that saves a massive chunk
-
You will need the side indicators for the mot btw.
-
mates doing it now and having range rover sport vents put in wings so can have indicators in there

not so true, i did it on my 2000 reg fiesta and it passed 4 mots with no side reps
all down to the moter tbh

mine failed because my indicator on the wing mirror was not working. it IS down to the tested but legally you need them
-
but legally you need them
not if the car was made before 82 iirc or if the moter stands a metre to the side of the rear cluster and can see the front indicator

If the car came fitted with them form the factory, they need them for the MOT regardless of year. End of, no if's no but's.
You may "get away with" not having them if you take it to a "friendly" garage. However this is becoming less common as the repercussions of an MOT centre passing a car without something then were the car involved in accident, such as the centre loosing it's MOT licence.
Invalid MOT + invalid insurance = potentially huge bill/ prosecution. Cost/ benefit analysis suggests that it's not really worth it.
If you are creative though there is always a way round a problem whilst remaining legal and achieving the desired look.

That's weird as my friend who also happens to be an MOT tester checked and confirmed that this was not the case? I've then subsequently checked at other MOT stations, in particular pertaining to a mk2 Golf built in 1991, smooth side repeaters are a no go. Subsequent to that, rule of thumb is that if it has side repeaters from the factory it needs them for the MOT.
