Getting my coilovers fitted on Monday.. but..
how low do I go?!
I've got 19's installed
-
What sort of look do you want? A little more sporty than standard or wound right down to scrape the tarmac?
Are you going to have any arch troubles going low?
Generally 1-2 fingers gap from tyre to arch looks pretty good. A nice even gap around the top half of the tyre looks right to me.

Hey Matt
Well I do really like the euro look, but my rims wont pull it off unfortunately!
I'm thinking that if I go to low then I will have issues with the arches.
I'm thinking that a 1 finger gap all the wy around will be nice! Pics to follow hopefully, wont be until monday mind!

What width+offset are your wheels and what size are your tyres?
-
215 19 35
no idea regarding other bits wouldnt even know how to check!!
-
Around 40mm lower will be fine.

When you have the wheel off, the ET number and the width should be visible on the back of the wheel.

Ok cool.
I'll have a look once they come off! I'm excited, I've really got the modding bug and can't stop..
I must take some photos and post them so people can see1

Get a measuring tape and measure the drop you want. If you keep the helpers in then you wont go that low on a mk5, but if you only want a moderate drop you'll be fine.
-
Helpers being?
Sorry for being a noob!!"!

Small springs on coilovers that are fitted below the main springs.

well having hit a pothole recently in a standard gti which caused £400 worth of damage (including a cracked sump), personally I would go the other way :-)

Cracked sump at standard ride height? Were you off roading or something?
-
nope, driving at under 10 mile an hour on a back street in glasgow with a pothole (cheekily disguised as a puddle) as deep as the grand canyon
.... cant remember the last time i swore as much

And she's done!!
I think she looks very pretty now! The ride is so super stiff it's amazing I really like it, here's some pictures, they're not very good, better ones to come soon;
