Title: Is this my clutch slipping?
Post by: Geordie on 22 July 2011, 15:35
When im driving in 2nd or 3rd gear mainly and i put my foot down the revs go up but theres no power! after a few seconds the power comes back an the revs go down.  Is this the clutch slipping?

if it is the clutch has anyone got any info on a replacement and what will i be looking at costs wise, part + about a days labour?

sounds like the clutch to me,what ever you do dont go back to the duel mass fly wheel rubbish, the solid fly wheel conversion with vr6 goodies in the link is far better

i have also done the Vr6 - ABF/G60 setup, however, Nick from R-tech is running a DMF standard setup with near enough 300hp.

As for clutch I am running the stock oem dmf and clutch set up, so cannot comment on the vr6 solid setup, but I have known the solid conversion to suffer with stage2 ko3s mapping in the past, but never looked in to why it was slipping under load. You need to do some research on the solid setup and see what people are actually pushing from them and where the peak torque is rpm wise.

Not sure if he rates the SMF

i tried what you did and offered £200, but wouldnt sell it for that, so had to pay £225

a good thing was that i paid through paypal, and had forgot i already had money in there from selling stuff on ebay, so in the end only paid about £180 out of my pocket!

glad you managed to get one mate, even at £225 thats still a great price, considering, the others for sale on there are over £300

well after waiting 2 weeks for the clutch kit to arrive and then finding they hadnt sent all the right bolts with it, i eventually got this done!
Loving the conversion, much lighter and much more responsive clutch... no noise on idle either.

now onto the the next thing to get fixed! ha

Hi all dont mean to hijack the thread, but mine has started doing this VERY recently (so recently in fact that I can time it with when my car went in for MOT, they replaced the disks and pads. Is it possible I have air in the system as opposed to the clutch slipping?

I hope its air because could do without the extra cost

No worries, well worth doing the G60/VR6 anyway especially if you are wanting more out of the car, mine went after a week of being remapped
