Title: GTI 8V standard exhaust problems
Post by: jamgolf8v on 12 April 2005, 21:35
Hi,

I posted this problem on here a few weeks back.

I have had a new system put on my car including a new cat and front downpipe.

I did have a really annoying noise coming from car when accererating. It sounded like it comes from the front (sort of rattle/leak noise).

The car sounds better since having the downpipe replaced but there is still a slight sound (its like the noise you get when driving in the wrong gear (changing too early).

I have checked all the joints, heatshields etc. I give up

Has anyone else got this problem? so puzzled and fed up. Got to the point now where i might just sell the car

Did you have a VW system. I bought the cheap one from German Swedish and French and they did not line up properly and the clamps wernt in the correct position. Took it back and payed a bit more for the German built one from them which is exactly like the Original.
