i am on the hunt for a small engined MkII,
however I found
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3042812.htm
Is this a good price / example ?
all views welcomed as I could be changing my search to a mkI instead :afro:
-
well you know how easy they are to work on... or not
however that particular one smacks of front end smash to me... with the bonnet replacement and front end respray?! :undecided:
you'll find some tidy examples on the mk1oc http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=35 (http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=35)

Looks ok but check for rust around the rear axle mountings.
The 1.5 is not that quick tbh
-
Make a great sleeper with a BAM engine in it!
-
Mk1! ... Go you!
Looks ok but id shop around as Guy said. Might be worth a look though if you can get to it easily enough. I had a 1.5 once, they're ok but not great, for some reason my 1.3 felt more eager but then it could have been in better tune.
I will literally do anything I can to assist in this venture so keep me posted.
Exciting.

This is true, but that doesn't make it right.

yes you are correct, and the lure of a mkII is strong, espeically with the stooooooooooooooopidly low quote for insurance I just got
-
You can get stupidly low quotes on mk1s... Try a mk1, you might like it, plus I need more friends in this section.
I pay 167 notes for me and the missus on mine. She won't drive ot but was only another tenner to put her on... Admittedly that's only 3k miles a year but fully comp with all mods declared.
-
that was for a gti, all mods and 4k a year
i am still only looking mind, but i have the big 4 0 coming soon so am asking for CASH to stretch the budget further :smug:

Its a decent motor, I like it and not a bad price but I reckon you could get that down a bit too.
By the way Chuff, I was joking on the other thread so if you see anything round my way give me a shout and I'll have a look for you, just arm me with a list of what you want me to report back on. :afro:

That's pretty good. Probably would have got a better deal myself if I didn't have a company car. Mk1 for your birthday sounds loads better than a mk2.
