So for you mac boys, the newest version of the operating system titled "Lion" was released today. Has anyone upgraded yet? If so, what do you think?
I've just installed it and so far I'm very un-impressed! Causing my system to crash and lag constantly! Had to boot into safe mode to get things stable.
So what are people's thoughts?

I had issues with the GM making my iMac slow and unresponsive so today I clean installed with the release version from the Mac App Store - the difference is night and day!
Clean install FTW.
-
Ha ha @ the mac owners
-
Like any OS, wait until they've sorted the bugs before using it on a main computer.
I've got it running on my hackintosh, but leaving it off of my Mac until I trust it.
-
Works perfectly well on my IMac no problems at all. I do run my mac very clean as I use Mac Keeper on a regular basis. I like launchpad but is weird getting used to not using the dock.

Little screen shot of launch pad

Pay £20 & buy it from the app store, you spent a fortune buying a mac so £20 shouldn't break the bank lol prefer to put a genuine registered version On my Mac :)

Agreed.
Well now that it's settled down, I'm impressed! Turns out the crashing/lagging was just due to the system re-indexing everything again. Still getting my head around the new Expose, but it seems good!
-
Can I get it for my mac book pro and would it work better ?
-
Loving it at the minute. Not had much time to really dig deep but it seems pretty good.
-
To get it, open up the Mac App Store, then select OS X Lion. It's £20.99 I think. You may find you need to perform software updates first though. To do that, just click the apple logo in the top left of the scree and go to Software Update

It's not great if you have bootcamp and another O\S installed, looks like there is issues with partitions GPT and MBR.
Although looking at the forums there are different experiences going on, worked first time for some with bootcamp.
-
Now remember kids, patch it up even if you are on the latest 'n greatest.

Just installed it today. Doesn't seem to be that much different from Snow Leopard apart from some interface tweaks.
-
Just put it on my iMac its brilliant , its like a re-map

Went for a fresh install on my macbook air....it didnt go well.
After i downloaded and installed Lion i went to disk utilities and wiped the hard drive (Lion is put onto a partition so is kept safe) i then proceeded to reinstall Lion and it wouldnt have any of it. Apple care had not had this problem since launch and put my case up to the highest point as reference after i fixed it and told her how lol. Had to reinstall snow leopard after fully wiping the drive and then re download Lion and install after updates, took hours!!
Its great though, however i sold the air the same day as i prefer the iPad

Odd i just loaded mine over the top, didnt have to wipe my hardrive  all works perfectly.

I didnt have to either, it worked fine initially. I wanted a fresh computer though so wiped the HDD, then it refused to install the OS. Couldnt even install snow leopard back without fully deleting the HDD using zero out data to reinstall the OS.
Im more of a windows man so maybe there could have been another way but i got there in the end.

If you want a fresh Mac i suggest using MacKeeper cleans everything up also has anti theft built in which i like

But I thought Mac's just worked? :lipsrsealed:

 they do but since they changed to intel chips i find they work better with a monthly clean up no harm in maintaining a computer be it Mac or PC especially if you torrent anything :lipsrsealed:

Its gone now anyway. Got a windows laptop and a couple of iPads. iPads definitely just work so ill stick with those.
-
It looks the same as snow leopard to me and with all of the problems i have seen i think i will stick without it for now!
