As a mk2 owner i drive round with my sidelights on pretty much anytime?  so do my other mates with mk2's i think the round lights just deserve to be lit,
i think we should spread the word so when u see a nice golf u know that the owner is a true mk2-er by the sidelights being on
allthough any model of golf would be accepted
-
I do that but just for safety like bikers do.
Gotta play it safe
-
No because i always forget to switch them off
-
Yup I drive round with my sidelights on too, how wierd?!?!?!?!?!?!?
-
if u do it every journey like i do it gets second nature like taking the key outa the ignition, in my amiture days of sidelighting they were left on at times
-
Infact close inspection of my sig reveals that the side lights were on at the time of the photo!
-
lol, im tempted to just wire them to an ignition live so save me forgetting to switch on or off
-
i dont
-
My headlights are always on. They switch off when the ignition's off, so I switched them on when I got the car in September, and haven't touched them since.
They aid in moving people out of my way early in the morning, as I try to get to work before all the plebs get on the roads and block them up, dawdling along.
-
Not all the time... but now i have fogs too which really anoys ppl
-
yeah..i do..
Dinx
-
I never use my side lights, my lights or either off or on dipped.
Use main beam at night tho when I am dark badly lit roads
-
Thats a f**kin brill idea think everyone shud try it oh no wait a min

-
Does my mk3 have  side lights not at the moment it doesn't...
The light buzzer would keep going if i left them on accidently anyway..
-
Yeah my mk1 dont have side lights
side lights are for pusseys
-
Small point - front fogs are illegal at night!
Will probably get you a pull during the day too! Unless its foggy of course!
And rear fogs are illegal at night even if it is foggy!
All true go check it out if ya dont believe me!
-
Hear that??
To pull all you have to do is put ur fog lights on!!
Fog lights at night cannot be illegal!! Wat if its foggy cant u have your rear fog on??
-
Nope! read what it says! oh sorry forgot u r a female!
-
read where? I know in the highway code it says your only allowed your fogs on if visability is at a certain level.
-
Read what i said in my post above! Its quite simple even for you surely!
Rear fogs TOTAL No No at night!!!!
Front fogs only if its foggy!
-
but where did u read it from old man
if its a quiet road at night and foggy i gonna put ma fogs on!!
-
One particular mate liked his fogs too much and got pulled for it! Thats how i know its illegal.
Got a fine but no points!
And less of the old Teen Mum!
-
*Golfgal takes out stick and stirs.....
-
Nah not in her condition! she loosing her touch!
-
or the bump is getting in the way.......
-
Nah she is getting to be a right housefrau!
All domesticated so she's losing that edge of young free and single, Turning all mumsy and sensible!
Oh i'm going now nite nite children!
-
oh yeah, coming up to your 9:30 curfew .. . . . .. . .
-
the ordealies will be round to collect you in a minute
-
it dont say in the highway code that fogs at night is illegal it was prob coz he didn't need em on coz o viability
-
but what deffines its a foglight? its possition as its to the lower of the front bumper or the fact its a brighter bulb, cos surely u could get away with dimmer bulbs
-
I don't - but then again I don't even give a cheery wave when I pass another Mk 2. I don't mean to be aloof but I think that if I flash and wave the other guy will think that I am being a wayne kerr as he is not into VW's - he is probably only taking his mum's car out for petrol.
Sometimes I think - what is the price of a wave? - what have you to lose? - but something inside stops me and I think - shove your heep of sh!t up your passage you arrogant cheapskate sod. Is it just me?
-
I don't put my side lights on as mk1 cabs already look cool
I mostly wait for mk1 cab owners to nod or wave at me as I've nodded at others before and they are clearly not into it and must have thought "who the fcuk was that"   I do get the odd mk2 owner nodding though, bit of mutual respect there I think.
-
I always have the sidelights on when i drive too, used to have the dim dip which looks much better, but since i uprated the lights, i dont have dim dip...
Worried about leaving your lights on?!?! Surely you havent looked here (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=13552.0") then!!
-
mallows behind the drivers side headlight is a yellow wire in a coil shape. unplug it and you will have dim/dip again
-
Yeah, i did unplug it! Thats why i dont have dim dip. For some reason, when you uprate the headlights, you cant have dim dip. If you leave it plugged in, sidelights are just the same as dipped lights. Unplugging it obvioulsy means you dont have dim dip at all!
-
but you should be left with sidelights tho cos thats what i have got now cos i got uprated loom aswell
-
Not all the time... but now i have fogs too which really anoys ppl
yeah that is really annoying!!! why do people drive around with their fogs on???
-
joe, the word is wayne kerrs........
I never used to drive around with my side lights on, sometims forgot to put the mians on cos if the car park at work.....
-
I was pulled in my MK3 gti 8v (slug) with my front fogs on but he only pulled me to check my rear fog wasnt on. If the two arnt linked they are classed as driving lights and arnt ilegal

It doesn't matter if your rear fog lights are on or not, the fronts are still classed as fogs and shouldn't be on unless foggy due to causing undue dazzle to other road users.
I often put my sidelights on on the Mk4 cos it does look kinda cool and it's nice to see the blue and red lights on the dash
-
I don't want to sound stupid but what is dim dip :embarassed:
-
My side lights are wired to angel eyes so its a must when the daylight starts to faid. Tho i must get a buzzer as im always leaving them on and draining the battery.

hehehe, gotta say tho, when your car is done, apart from the fact that you will rag the nuts off of it because of driving a slow van for ages, its gonna look phat
But didnt you leave the lights on in your grandads van tho???

I did but ive now swapped the van for his people carrier and that has a buzzer!
-
I prefer to drive with my dip beam on as I have blue tinted xenon bulbs (from e-bay) which i put in last week. Not sure if thier legal but they look cool!
