Ignoring all the predictable Chav comments, what do we reckon to this as it is possibly a unique car in the UK?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2010-golf-gti-adidas-limited-edition-/280704335087?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item415b483cef&clk_rvr_id=248683794583
The only issue I can think of would be whether it would carry a UK warranty.
There probably won't be many on here who will admit to liking the thing but it's certainly going to be a collectors dream in a few years.

I'd say thats a bit of a bargain tbh! If i was looking for a used GTI then that would definately get some serious thought! Seems quite cheap though
-
A Golf GTI and adidas combined. Two of my favourite things. :afro:
-
It does seem very cheap, I'd say somethings not quite right, especially as the reg is hidden so you can't do a data check.
-
Can't get past the look of the seats  I'm sure people will like the car purely for the rarity value.

you forgot your teams colours too

Sorry but that is horrid inside.

Agreed! And perhaps a limited or no warranty at all (depending if it was bought in an EU state!) That's also why it's cheap - a 'grey' or 'parallel' import. Also insurance will more than likely cost more.....

The adidas badging on the wings/bonnet are seriously naff. I assume a baseball cap (turned backwards) is standard equipment with this car?
-
Nice car, love the alloys but the seats remind me of this everytime I see them

Sorry but that is .Glad it's not officially being imported.
-
I wince when I see these. So chavy.
Agree that something doesn't quite make sense. All a bit too cheap :undecided: :undecided: :undecided:

10 reg and registered on 1st may 2011 :undecided:
Warrenty
If its bought in europe it will have a 2 year UK warrenty but not the 3rd year of VWuk cars.

You would have thought that VW would have commissioned BBS to make a modern version of the RA for this car.
-
I quite like the sill plates! Can we get them from anywhere?
-
Im sure you could order them as parts from VW but at a cost.
-
I dont understand why it is considered chavvy? I dont wear adidas stuff but as far as Im aware, its a sportswear brand?!! Chavs are known for wearing burberry/mckenzie/henleys stuff (they are round here anyway)
I like it anyway.
-
Just look at it though. Regardless of what brand it is, having any sort of clothing branded scribbled all over your exterior and seats is just plain wrong. Its not the "Adidas" itself that makes it chav, I wear Adidas.

The best looking Golf and then some.
I simply adore that car especially the seats.

As far as I know Xenons was standard on the Addidas edition in Germany, and it was only available in Germany?
OEM parts swap?
Dave
-
Yep, you're right, Xenons were standard
Extra over GTI
Alloy wheels "Serres" 7 1 / 2 J x 18
Darkened tail lights with LED technology,
Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and cornering lights
Electrically adjustable lumbar supports in front
Heated front seats
and AFAIK no RHD ones were made, so looks like some sort of butcher job..

They are available in Australia, so it's likely an Aussie spec model.

They have Xenon as standard here in Australia too. None had Halogen.

The plot thickens :undecided:
I suppose we could actually email the seller and ask the story behind it.................but that would take away all the mystique!

seats seem quite nice and colourful, but to me seeing the retro chequered style pattern on the standard cars evokes more emotion for me.
i think the exterior logo could have been done better, the Adidas logo could perhaps been made into a nice badge and put the opposite side where the GTI badge is, but instead you just get a cheap sticker.
apart from the alloys, the stickers and the seats, there is nothing that really screams out it being special to me. If Adidas had some sort of motorsport pedigree, then yes maybe the Adidas name would be worth more, or of there was something developed for the car to make it different say the engine or the suspension or handling to make it different, but it's a standard GTI car i presume?
Wasn't there the GTI Pirelli Edition? that had a more powerful engine if i remember rightly. that to me makes me think that Pirelli wanted to evoke the spirit of the Pirelli name in the driving so they said to VW "make the engine more powerful than the standard car". That would get me much more interested.
well that's what i think. at the end of the day, peel off the Adidas branding it still seems to be a GTI underneath which is a great car anyway.
