Took the bosses GTD out for a spin today, what a nice car and its an oil burner!
Smooth in corners, sticks to the road (with new potenza's all around) loads of traction and great acceleration.
VW got this one just right imo
I also found out how good the car is at absorbing impacts, as some knob end drove into the back while i was letting golfers cross the road at the senior open in Surrey!
The rear bumper took all the impact (est 30 mph impact speed after skid) with minimal damage to the rest of the rear end.
I really did think it was going to be a proper wreck before I got out but was suprised at how it held up.
My boss was not overly impressed but it was not my fault so he is ok with it in that sense.
He is very finiky about colour matches and panel gaps so I will not be supprised if the repair centre get it back to put it right a few times.......
The Volvo that hit me barely had a mark on it in comparison
Last time I get to borrow his car for a work run grrrr, will post some pics when I get home

Ouch!
I think there'll be a little bit more damage behind the bumper after that - hopefully you had the golfers () as witnesses and no one was hurt?

That bumper looks nicer than the ABT rear bumper!

Two partial witnesses but its a clean cut case as i was stationary, did not look like any bent bodywork behind the bumper but all the clips and fixings were splatted, lower part of bumper (meshy bit) was resting/melting onto the exhaust
A few scratches on the body where the bumper came adrift + the light cluster has moved a bit, Garage will no doubt find more work....
My neck is a bit stiff but it could have been worse
I am very impressed at how well the Mk6 stood up to 2 tons of Volvo

Sheeesh!
Bad luck there!
But it looks like the Golf did what it's designed to do in a prang.... The bumpers absorb the shock

Yes its bent and it now has dangerous bodywork so it shouldn't be driven, I hope your insured?

Don't think that will polish out.

Suck's man, does that mean those LED brake lights aren't great in the sun or just the Volvo driver was testing his emergency brake assist?

Unlucky mate. I know it wasnt your fault but if someone else crashed my car like that Id have to feed them their own balls. Gutted.
Id be more worried about if its done any internal damage that you cant see.
