I've been thinking about rat looking my 2005-'10 blue polo as i haven't had that buzz you get when driving since i sold my MK1 rivage last year  and as i haven't got loads to spend i still want a car that turns heads, even if all aren't approving turned heads lol (when i mean that, it'll just be the bonnet and maybe some old skool rims too) so if anyone has a bonnet going for it i can purchase and rat look that along with some ideas for the rat look stlye with maybe a bit of sticker bombing too pls let me know.... just an idea for now but i really want to go through with it as i'm really intigued by that style and scene

Rusty bonnet on anything later than 1998 = fail.

No offence but rat-look sticker-bombed Polos from like 02->10 are the most 'teenager with no sense' cars evarrr. Tonnes of them on club polo and they all look shocking. If you want to turn heads drop it on coils and keep it clean. Job jobbed.

Didn't think your current or previous Polo was/will be ratted? I hope not anyway

I don't mind rat look on old cars, but modern ones no way.. also having a rusty bonnet in my eyes isn't rat.

Both of the above BAD examples are awful... why would you do that!? especially that MK5!
Rat look to me is about making car look like a barn find thats been slapped back on the road, or something that looks like it's from Mad Max... I really don't get shiny cars with rusty bits and mint everything else, what is that meant to be!?
-
Agree with all of the above!
There's and awesome polo GT I've seen at a few shows, rivet arches and all!
Half and half?

This guy has done some insane rats...I think it's the same guy that did the polo.... I hate the above as the project thread I saw for it showed the car in great looking condition to start with!
Do you mean this polo (here it is with the above)

The 50/50 one had a detailed threat which I found at home, think the polo was on the same site, can't bloomin remember where right now.

The guy behind those rats is my good friend from Somerset, Joe. I'm not quite sure what's got into him, but he's become a bit obsessed with the whole rat-look thing! Considering he's got a lovely VR6 Corrado hidden away too, we all think he's mental.
The best build threads are over at SWDubs:
Polo - http://www.swdubs.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=766
Scirocco - http://www.swdubs.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=494
And the latest work-in-progress... http://www.swdubs.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=9057
It's also a ballache going to shows with him, as everyone looks past my car to look at his 'creation'! :embarassed:

I love that two-face Rocco. The detail is amazing and the split is so perfect it's like a work of car art
-
Wow, alot of different views on this. I do think it could look a bit weird with just a rusty styled bonnet and old rims, but the trouble is i had 2 previous tidy Golfs and they both scratched and keyed and the same when i got the polo, within days it had new scratches by i'm sure little scrotes hanging around the car park it's parked in outside my house. If i went for the rat look style i wouldn't be too bothered about new scratches appearing as opposed to the tidy look. I'm just bored of it the way it is. Great pics tho

Thanks for the links. I have to confess that when I actually looked at the detail of the Rocco the first time I clocked it, I was impressed, I just ended up not being keen on it because it looked like a mint rocco to begin with and couldn't help but think it was ruined. be interesting to see how the raddo ends up, the split from top to bottom is interesting................... I think I could only Rat a car because it looks like sh*t in the first place. I suppose he wouldn't get the look he was going for if he always did this so each to their own.
