Title: new wishbones
Post by: Dan_GTi8v on 19 July 2011, 10:16
Anyone recommend a good supplier for new wishbones on my mk3? I'm thinking VR6 spec as its got a 1.8t lump in it but its an 8v gti as standard.

Been looking around ebay and prices seem to differ a lot! anything from £20 to £50 each. volksbits dont have any LH only RH in stock, been looking at these ones but not sure tbh?

Cheers :)

Buy genuine. I've done a pattern one in 7 months, bushes and balljoints.

is there a difference between the bushes of a GTI/VR6 wishbone and a standard 1.4-1.8 wishbone?

Febi Bilstein make the wishbones for VW, just ask at ECP for this brand and it will save you £££'s rather than wallet rape at VW.
Or put some new poly bush rubbers in exisiting wishbones, DH stiffened his Mk2 ones up with stitch welds along the seam + I think he used an uprated TT rubber or such like instead of poly bushes..... should be a thread somewhere about this in the archive, or if brave you could ask him about it and take the Mk3 insults on the chin.

Whatever you do make sure you get good droplinks and not the cheapo welded together jobbies, plus new ball joints

Tierod69 sells decent ones on eBay. If you PM them you can also supply pairs with pre-fitted uprated bushes ( Audi TT I believe)
Non listed at the moment but they're an actual shop and do carry a lot of stock so definitely worth contacting them.
