Title: Farewell my Bonnie.
Post by: gizzywizzy on 18 July 2011, 23:17
Well guys have decided to sell Bonnie, she is now 2 years old and has done 11,300 miles.  As you can see from my sig the car has a pretty decent spec and I would hope to get around £20,000 for her.

If anyone is interested feel free to PM me, I do not always respond very quickly as I tend to work unsociable hours but promise I will return all PMs as soon as poss.

I live in North Yorkshire and the car will be available to view there (I will only divulge my address to interested parties)

Thanks all

Gizzy

Amanda

So you've decided to leave this exclusive testosterone fuelled club

What car are you looking at to replace Bonnie?  Remember it has to be black ;)

Don't laugh but I have plans to replace Bonnie with a Fiesta Sport which is due out in a couple of months, in Panther Black with black 17" alloys.  Will be cheaper to tax, insure and run and whilst I've loved my GTI I don't use it enough to warrant the costs involved.

I know many of you don't rate Ford cars but many people do and IMO the new Fiesta is quite an attractive beast.

        And once for luck:

Pray, tell us more about this little Fiesta that features in your ''plans''.

Did I see mention of black alloys? Like the ones I had which you tore into?

Good luck, I can see where you're coming from.
You get 3000 different types of plastic texture throughout the inerior but it's a fantastic car to drive, good residuals and cheap to run.

And black wheels like I had which you slated!!!

     a few more from me!

I have to say I am shocked at your decision also... a  Golf to a Fiesta?? I do speak to alot of people in the motor trade and any one of them will tell you that is a step backwards.... but.... women hey!! who can tell em anything!!

What concerns me more is that you are one of these people that buys a brand new car and then trades it/sells it on after the first 10k taking the biggest hit!?!?

Good luck with the new ride...as you say not a bad looking car

Amanda

Still a bit shocked on your decision but the Fiesta looks nice if it's the same as Martin's posted.

Might you be trading it in if you don't get a private sale on here?

If you do, let me know if you'd be interested in moving your rear lens' and camera - I'd be interested price dependent

Thanks

The breeze of insanity has blown through your hair!  It may well be cheap to run but it'll be worth about 20p in two years time cos they're everywhere! Oh well, good luck and don't be a stranger.

You'll regret it. You'll save a few quid for shoes but will still regret it.
Each to their own and all that, still a big mistake though.

There comes a time when it makes financial sense to get rid of a car and in the grand scheme if things it won't of cost her alot over the last 2 years in depreciation. If you got a fair deal on a new gti/gtd in 2009 and sold it now you won't of lost to much unless you specced it to the hilt or retro fitted thousands of bits and bobs

Wow thats a big difference. Weren't you talking of changing to a 4x4 last year because of the snow?
Hopefully the Fiesta will fare better in the snow for you than the Golf but then you now know the advantage of winter tyres

Good luck and all the best.

Thanks, aye well knocked the Freelander idea on the head because of cost and build quality, now just want a small runabout that looks good and won't cost the earth to run.

Well Amanda, it has been nice to share the forum with you.

Whilst it is certainly surprising news I don't condemn your decision. That Fiesta looks absolutely cracking. My friend has just bought a 1.25 Zetec model and I've been impressed overall by the car. I love the styling and I think it's one of the best cars for the money.

I wish you all the best with your new car and many happy miles motoring in it.

Nice lookin car!

It is less likely to get done by the Boy's in Blue in your new Fiesta!

People in your area will soon forget that nice good looking girl-racer driving that Mk6 GTI!

[/b]   Thanks LOL.  It is a nice car, isn't out for sale yet but I've driven an S1600 which is similar and liked that, though the build quality is nothing like the MK6 to all of those who moan about VW build quality DON'T it is superior to most others out there.  I am only doing this to downsize and save on costs but the GTI is an awesome car and I will miss it.

I shall still take an interest in what is going on with the forum and may well return to the VW scene one day.  However don't think it will be for a mk7 as I am not over keen on what I've seen in Autoexpress also VW prices are getting beyond horrendous.

So when's the new car arriving?

TBH I've not placed an order yet, I've test driven the Fiesta S1600 which is similar to the Sport special edition which is the one I will probably go for, but as yet there is no date for orders, and all this is if I can really let my GTI go

LOL, I am in turmoil.  The Fiesta does not have the build quality of the Golf but it is a smaller, cheaper and neater package.  You may say go for a Polo; yes I could but tbh I'm not so smitten with it.  If only manufacturers would stop bringing new cars out to tempt and titillate.  FFS I sound like James Gould  shall I? shan't I? anyone got a shotgun?

A-MAN-DA:

How can I influence you not to go through the change?

Ask yourself the following:
Could you constantly look and touch the plastics in the Fiesta?
Would the lack of Jacara Cloth and the best seats in the business be missed?
Would the loss of Dynaudio and the Reverse Cam be mourned?
Would the measly saving financially make up for the loss of not owning and driving an Icon?
Is not the pleasure of owning something special priceless?
Do you love yourself?
Are you going mad?

I have a gun.

Now, please make up your mind to please me.

OR,

I'LL ..........

Get a Polo GTI if you can stretch to it

The missis saw one first and turned me towards one. I'd never even thought about one until she mentioned it and after the test drive I'm glad she did.

178bhp - 1200kg - 47 mpg (combined cycle) and stock are turning out 0-60 in just over six seconds

Humm, decisions, decisions.

I wish I had no interest in cars, that I was over 60 with a free bus pass or too far gone to care.

Gonna take a saunter round all the dealerships looking at all supermini cars and will then probably make my decision which will possibly be to stop making a fool of myself and keep the GTI.

Dearest. Size matters. You don't want to go too small. Where's the fun in that.

Wolfgang says - It's not the size of the ship that counts, it's the motion of the ocean.
Bonnie says - But who wants a tug boat when one can get a battleship.

Bonnie is right, this time.

i see the point in "downsizing". The GTI engine, amazing as it is, isn't the most efficient for all applications. with the price of fuel rocketing in recent months, it's much harder to run these cars.

i almost test drove a Fiesta. was in the showroom booking a test drive before deciding on the VW. i actually really like the newest shape . kind of looks sporty and modern. whether it will age well i'm not sure, but for now it certainly looks the part, at least to me.

Saw my first Polo GTI on the road today, looked lovely in white with the monza's! A friend of mine has an SE which is nice enough but very bland, the GTI on the other hand  may consider one as a toy to replace the Golf and get a used family wagon like an A4 or Exeo estate......hmmm :undecided:

Have test driven all the so called "Superminis" and TBH not one can match the quality of the GTI.  I have therefore come to the conclusion that I have the best car I could ever need even if it costs a sh!t load of cash to run, so I am keeping it for the forseeable and will decide again come next July when she is due for an MOT.

Second service due very soon and am so glad I took out the service plan at time of purchase.
