Title: Lupo oil light help..
Post by: robz on 18 July 2011, 20:12
Ok guys...
The lupo oil light came on at weekend, so I thought ok get to halfords! Bought the correct 5w30 as told by them!
Been fine until today! Suddenly came on so pulled over, let it cool down, oil level was fine! Odd!
Started her up, went off for about 10 mins and it came on again, bugger!
Kept turning it off and it would be 30 secs till it came on again!
It didn't over heat according to the thermostat ??
Got it to my work, came out on me dinner, no signs of leak and still same oil level!
Turned it over and left it for a couple of mins, didn't come on!
Drove it home tonight which is roughly 12 miles and half hour, got hot and ran fine and never came on?
Shall I yet two new pressure switches and hope for the best?
Cheers

10/40 semi synth oil is better.

Could be an oil pressure problem.

The bastard is at it again.
On me way to view a car and it's just come on again.
Done about 10 miles on top of the 12 I've done from work!
Wayne, would the coolant temp go up if it was the oil pump?

It's going on and off now!! Bloody thing !
Not overheating!
Just worried about a warm spot causing damage!
Seems to be running alright! I would have thought the pump would just die?

Not always, pumps wear over time.

Hi guys
Ok, bought a replacement last night anyway, so takes the pressure off a bit!
It drove fine all night last night even with the light on!
I think it is the switch as surely after a 60 mile round trip it would have broken!
Defo the oil can light mark! Cheers for looking! I'll phone vw today and order the bits!
