just had some parts sand blasted . is it a no go or should it be ok as i thought hammerite is good for protection ?
-
clean them with degreaser, and spray them with etch primer (extra protection). then a coat of hammerite :D
-
okey dokey ill get some etch primer then
-
What parts are they? There's much better paint than Hammerite out there
-
the bits that i couldent buy new or struggled to get hold of for being obsolete any ideas on paint then as i want it to last and these take a lot of water under the wheel arch

Just paint with hammerite, will be fine
-
Hammerite is cack for long term, heavy duty areas though. It's too brittle and flakes off after a while. Use POR15 or epoxy mastic if you want it to last.

Late on this... Hammerite is not that bad, I've used it for certain jobs but to be honest, not for anything super long term.. be interesting to know what you've done.

I make gates and railings for a living atm, all we do is use a zink based primer followed by a single coat of hammerite style gloss black. Never have any problems with rust etc, my boss encourages people not to bother with powder coating even though he can make a little extra dosh by powdercoating.
-
just for the future... CQ's do these for about £28 each refurbished
I did exactly the same with mine as you though... sanded them down and hammerite x 2 coats.. pretty much the same result too

you get the pride out of doing them yourself aswell you allways look back and think i acctually enjoyed doing that
