I believe so, have you upgraded the injectors yet? Once they're done along with a change of turbo you'll need it remapping from what I've read.

Passat turbo wont fit as the housing is wrong (its not a transverse engine liek yours)  and the 115, 130 and 150bhp tdi engines use VNT Turbos, which will be usless.  Your best bet is a good after market turbo,  but then a tdi runs high boost anyway, because it can.   So big injectors and a bleed valve will give you good gains, and to be fair your turbo will run out of puff at 4000rpm+.... but then so does a TDI Engine.   So there is no need for a bigger turbo untill the injectors are upgraded, you have a good intercooler and possibly a remap.  Although this might be best saved till after the bigger turbo if you do decide to get one
